Temple University Selects SunGard Higher Education to Help Create a New Unified Digital Campus
Banner Unified Digital Campus Will Help Temple Deliver an Enhanced, More Efficient Constituent Experience and Support the Complex Business Requirements of a Top Research Institution
MALVERN, Pa, January. 14, 2008 — SunGard Higher Education announced today that Temple University, one of the nation’s largest and most prominent research institutions, selected the Banner Unified Digital Campus to replace existing campus software systems. The effort will help enhance the education experience by improving access and uniting campus services, learning communities, and administrative resources in an efficient, personalized, self-service environment.
“After an extensive vendor evaluation, we determined that SunGard Higher Education offers the vision, solutions, services, and relationship that match our needs as a large, complex research institution,” said Tim O’Rourke, chief information officer, Temple University. “Providing a unified digital campus will help us improve everything from teaching and faculty scholarship to student life and business operations.”
The project is part of a comprehensive plan to fulfill the University’s mission as a national center of excellence in teaching and research with an international presence. “Some of the systems we rely on now to pay bills, check class schedules, and store student information are older than the students being served by them,” O’Rourke said. “Over the next five years, we will bring efficiencies, convenience, data security and other improvements to almost every process on campus.”
“We look forward to helping Temple University achieve a level of customer services that is consistent with its reputation and mission,” said Brian Madocks, chief executive officer, SunGard Higher Education. “Working together, we will help Temple better manage the full constituent relationship lifecycle, including recruiting students, improving interdisciplinary collaboration and research, and embracing alumni.”
