Oakland City University Selects PowerCAMPUS Digital Campus and Hosting to Provide Online Services to Constituents

  

MALVERN, Pa., April 30, 2010 – Oakland City University has selected the PowerCAMPUS Digital Campus solution and Hosting service from SunGard Higher Education to help create an always-up-to-date, reliable and user-friendly technology environment that will offer improved services to students, faculty and staff.

“PowerCAMPUS will help us to offer our students a range of online capabilities so that they can manage the subordinate tasks necessary to support their academic experience online and at their convenience, without having to take the time to come to campus,” said Robert E. Yeager, Ed.D., vice president for Administration and Finance, Oakland City University.  “We want to create a user-friendly environment to give our constituents a better experience, and enhance our communications from department to department and individual to individual.” 

The University also contracted with SunGard Higher Education for its PowerCAMPUS Hosting service, a package of support services from servers and hardware to application management.  The turnkey service provides one-stop access to a data center, Internet connectivity, hardware and operating system support, security administration and operational monitoring.

“PowerCAMPUS Hosting helps eliminate the burden and the worry of supporting our administrative system,” explained Dr. Yeager.  “We can be confident that we will have the latest version of PowerCAMPUS installed, and that the servers and supporting infrastructure are up to date and will be at a level to help provide optimum uptime and reliability for our users.”

PowerCAMPUS Hosting is a new offering that was developed and delivered as part of SunGard Higher Education’s vision for the Open Digital Campus.  Through the Open Digital Campus strategy, SunGard is delivering technology solutions faster and is offering new alternative delivery models that include hosting, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), composite applications and on-demand services, in order to provide institutions with more flexible options to suit their unique needs and preferences.
