Congratulations to the 2008 EDUCAUSE Award Winners

7/3/2008

SunGard Higher Education is an EDUCAUSE Platinum partner and proudly sponsors the EDUCAUSE Awards. Congratulations to this year’s winners:

Joel L. Hartman, vice provost of Information Technologies and Resources at the University of Central Florida received this year’s Leadership Award for his distinguished performance and outstanding service in advancing the innovative use of learning technologies at his institution as well as other institutions of higher education around the globe.

Authors Michael J. Albright, associate professor and director of online learning at Dakota Wesleyan University and John Nworie, lead educational technology designer at Kent State University earned the EDUAUSE Quarterly Contribution of the Year Award for their article “Rethinking Academic Technology Leadership in an Era of Change.” An examination of the current teaching and learning with technology environment reveals the existing lack of strategic leadership in this area and poses a case for this critical role to be adopted by all institutions.

The visionaries behind the Regional Networks concept have worked to encourage and move forward collaborative dynamics used in the creating and support of the Internet. For its work in bringing together federal, corporate and higher education online networks for the benefit of higher education institutions, The Regional Networks earns the Catalyst Award. This award recognizes innovations and initiatives centered on information technologies that provide groundbreaking solutions to major challenges in higher education.

Genesee CC Makes Headlines For Access To Education Programs

3/19/2008

The Daily News (Batavia, NY) and The Buffalo News have run great articles about efforts at Genesee Community College to put education within reach for every member of its community. They have launched a new program to offer course scholarships to all area high school students graduating in June. They also launched the Genesee Promise and Promise Plus programs to guarantee that all area residents who want to take courses are able to cover tuition.  This summary from one article sums it up, "If there's a way out of economic doldrums for Western New York, it's through education, and GCC just handed out the keys to the door." Our team onsite at Genesee is very proud to be part of this. Kudos!
