Banner Relationship Management Helps Tarleton State University Exceed Enrollment Goals
8/16/2010
Tarleton State University recently reported that it dramatically increased its enrollment numbers for fall 2010, due in part to its strategic use of the Banner Enrollment Management solution from SunGard Higher Education. At the end of July, Tarleton reported that its enrollment was up 18 percent from the previous year. Tarleton University’s current enrollment of 1,467 new students exceeds its goal of 1,334. In addition, the number of transfer students enrolling at its three campuses is 16 percent higher than last year at this time. Tarleton was able achieve these goals by executing specific campaigns through Banner Enrollment Management to increase participation in Preview Days, campus visits, and Admitted Student Day. “Executing these campaigns through Banner Relationship Management directly impacted application yield and ultimately enrolled yield by providing timely and relevant information,” said Denise Groves, dean of Enrollment Management/University registrar, Tarleton State University. “The Recruiting and Admissions Performance solution allowed us to keep our finger on the pulse of growth rate, enabling our team to be more proactive in our planning around housing and course demand. With the capability of tying the financial aid process to both solutions, we were able to increase our level of service to the student beyond admission, following up on aid and orientation activities.” Banner Enrollment Management addresses the interrelated phases of planning, executing and measuring an institution's enrollment management efforts. The suite captures and connects relevant information in one place, leveraging the data and capabilities within Banner. Banner Enrollment Management includes Banner Relationship Management, a solution that provides core CRM capabilities to help institutions strengthen and enrich connections to prospects, students, and alumni, as well as performance management applications that provide scorecard, dashboard, reports and analytics designed to support each stage of the student lifecycle. Tarleton went live with Banner Relationship Management in August 2009, becoming the first school in Texas to implement the solution. Tarleton has also implemented the Banner Recruiting and Admissions Performance solution. The University’s goal was to enhance its ability to build relationships early in the funnel and consistently throughout the recruitment cycle. Tarleton was also able to collaborate better with service areas outside of recruitment and admissions in areas such as scholarships, financial aid, orientation and housing for applicants, all in an effort to increase yield and better serve the needs of students. “Banner Enrollment Management was the glue that bonded all the service areas as the prospective student made their way through the enrollment funnel,” said Groves. “All interactions were recorded, and all communications from the different areas had a common look, a common message, and were customized to fit their position in the funnel.” To learn more about Tarleton’s use of Banner Relationship Management, read the case study at http://www.sungardhe.com/case-studies/Case-Study.aspx?colid=354&LangType=1033
